For animators starting out with animation basics, and especially those animating with the marvellous "Monty", we recommend the free Cartoonland set from Turbosquid.  

Monty is a very cartoony character, and he works best in a very cartoony environment.  As digital artists, animators need to think about the overall style of a shot, keeping all the elements consistent.

To get hold of a copy of the free Cartoonland set from Turbosquid, first navigate to the Turbosquid website and set up your free account. Then search for Cartoonland (make sure to look under "lower prices"; we just want the free stuff) and you'll find the set. 

Copy to your Scenes Folder

Download Cartoonland, copy it to your Scenes Folder in Maya, and then import the scene into the shot you're working on. Then add it to a Layer in the Layer Editor so you can toggle the visibility on and off.   

Free Props

Monty also looks nice in a hat. You can also find many free hats (bowlers, top hats, helmets) at Turbosquid; just search for hats and look under "Lower Prices" to get the free stuff.
