Sometimes this flows from perfectionism, performance anxiety, or even a sense of imposter syndrome. But it's always better to hand in something than nothing; an imperfect submission is almost always better than no submission at all.

Something is (Almost Always) Better Than Nothing
From time to time animation students studying on our MA in Animation, delivered in partnership with Buckinghamshire New University, will get stuck on a project, and will request extra time, or hand their work in late - and then apply for Mitigating Circumstances.

Academic Deadlines For Our MA Students 2024-26
![]() |
| 2021-2023 deadlines |
Note that this list of deadlines is a draft list only, and is subject to change. Students should always check the appropriate Module Guide and Assignment Brief to be certain of the correct submission date. And, of course, check with your tutor.
This list gives our MA students a broad idea of what to expect over the coming 18 months. But always double-check these dates - if in doubt, email your tutor.

Why Animators Should Submit Early
Deadlines matter, and for all our students studying for their Online MA in 3D Animation at Buckinghamshire New University, it is very important to submit formal assessments on time.
At BNU the animation lecturers have very little leeway in accepting late submissions. The "No Detriment" policy that was in place following the Covid Pandemic is now at an end, and BNU deadlines are now a lot more rigid than they have been for the past year. Our recommendation to all our master's degree students is this: Don't wait until the due date to submit your work. Instead, aim to submit your work the night before.
