Sara-Laila Francis of MPC |
MPC's Sara-Laila Francis was there yesterday, talking to students and graduates about opportunities with MPC, one of London's leading VFX houses.
Do students really need to meet recruiters in person? Can't you just send in a CV and cross your fingers? You can, but it's even better if you have a chance to get yourself known.
Talk to recruiters face to face, and you become a real person, not just another CV in a pile in HR. Making a human connection is important in an industry where companies don't like to take risks; they want to know you're an OK person, someone who isn't just talented but can be relied upon to do the job and make a deadline on a friday afternoon. In this industry we generally tend to work in teams, and being easy to get along with is an important part of the business.
The VFX Festival runs for two more days, so come along, and get to know the people who actually make hiring decisions at the big animation and VFX houses.
