Anna started our online Masters degree in September of last year, using the tutorial videos and feedback at Animation Apprentice to hone her skills. Medical animation is still a pretty new field for animators, a departure from our traditional role as entertainers, helping instead to advance medical knowledge and procedures.
About Touch Surgery
Touch Surgery is a company that builds "technologies to empower the global surgical community". "work with leading surgical minds from around the world, to map and share the language of surgery". In other words, they animate surgical procedures, to teach surgeons how to carry our procedures.
How do they do it?
By using "cognitive mapping techniques, cutting edge AI and 3D rendering technology to codify surgical procedures". Touch Surgery are "working toward a vision of advancing surgical care in the operating room".
The Job
Anna's title will be Junior Simulation Artist - in effect, Junior Animator. Her responsibilities will include "producing high-quality visualisations and simulations for the application, work closely with other 3D specialists, a team of surgeons and anatomists in the production process, and designers and developers to further improve the user journey through the simulations". She will also be expected to "liaise with authors and clients, including world-leading surgeons, to receive and iterate on feedback within the production process".
What do Touch Surgery do?

Touch Surgery use Maya and ZBrush for 3D, Mental Ray for Rendering, Mari & Photoshop for texturing and Nuke for Compositing.
