Nickelodeon Announces $25,000 Scholarship for Young Animators

New scholarship for animators
Nickelodeon is launching a new animation scholarship worth $25,000. Nick has partnered with the US non-profit organisation Get Schooled, which was co-founded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation — to award an innovative animator with a $25,000 scholarship by creating an original animated short.

What is this scholarship all about?

According to Nickelodeon President Russel Hicks: “With a rich history of championing artist-driven shows and shorts, Nickelodeon is on a mission to bring these ever-growing, young animators to the forefront. By partnering with Get Schooled, we are able to discover the next generation of storytellers and provide an animation scholarship for a deserving student, which is really rewarding.”

Who can apply?

The scholarship opportunity will be open to 17- to 24-year-olds.

What do you have to submit?

Animators must submit an animated short in any format.

What about younger animators?

Young animators 13 to 16 are also invited to submit a theme-based looping animation for a chance to win prizes, such as a tablet with animation software.

Where can you find out more?

More information can be found at getschooled.com;

When are the full details being announced?

Full guidelines will be available in April, with the winners will be announced this summer.
