Young Animator of the Year Competition Open

Young Animator of the Year 2024
The Young Animator of the Year UK ("Yay!") 2024 Competition is now open for entries. Entries are welcomed from UK-based animators between the ages of 11 and 18 years.  All they have to do is submit their film to http://younganimator.uk by September 16th 2024.

Deadline
The Deadline is Monday 16 September 2024.

Theme
This year's theme for the animation is the word GROWTH.

Competition Rules
  • Entrants must be aged 11-18 years on the closing submission date of 16th September 2024.
  • Video entry must be no more than three minutes long, excluding credits.
  • Video entry should be HD resolution supplied as an MP4 video file (at least 1280x720 pixels)
  • Only one submission per student.
  • Video entry must have been fully made by the entrant; group projects are not eligible.
  • If using music, entrants must use royalty-free tracks so it can be screened online/at the festival, using copyrighted music without permission will make the submission void
  • Entrants must be living in the United Kingdom.
  • Video entry must have been made after last year's competition deadline of 3rd September 2023.
  • Video entry must be submitted by midnight Monday 16th September 2024.
  • Video entry must be created using Stop-Motion, 2D or 3D animation techniques.
  • To qualify as a finalist, entrants may be asked to provide a short making-of video to demonstrate how they made the film.
  • Video entry's content be similar to a U or PG film, so do not use swearing or exteme violence.
Judges
The entry will be judged by professional animators using the scoring criteria:
  • Quality of the animation skills
  • Clarity of the storytelling
  • Quality of the design
  • Quality of the overall film
Winners will be announced at Manchester Animation Festival on Sunday 10th November 2024.
