Dinosaur Locomotion Tutorial

Dino walk by Mark Lawson-Hall
Our latest tutorial at Animation Apprentice shows how to animate a dinosaur in motion. The tutorial uses the free Dino rig by Harry Geoghegan, available for free download at Creative Crash.

Following the tutorial, novice animators can create a believable dinosaur walk cycle and performance. To get started, watch the theory video below.

Dinosaurs - Introduction to The Available Rigs

Why Dinosaurs?
Dinosaurs have been a staple of visual effects movies ever since Jurassic Park and, even before that, London's FrameStore created the astonishing Walking With Dinosaurs series - back when such work barely seemed possible.

Dinosaur Rigs

With the visual effects industry expanding rapidly globally, and - of course - employing more and more animators - every animator should have a little dinosaur action on their demo reel.
